Gettin' There

...and then there were 35.

My Midnight Cowboy review is up. Hope the damn song starts running through your head the way it did mine.

Here's a little Bob Balaban anecdote. When he was a starting-out actor in NYC many years ago, Maureen Stapleton met him and took him in 'cause she figured he was as penniless as most would-be actors. Then she found he was from a wealthy family and felt kinda used and I guess held it against him.
Not that interesting, huh? My source is A Hell of a Life, Ms. Stapleton's memoirs.

Good review!

Good write-up. Saw this movie only once, many years ago, and liked it.

I definitely agree about Dustin Hoffman. He's one of those actors who melts into the part. You see the character, not him. He IS Rain Man, as you say. Robert Duvall is another actor like that, and Gene Hackman, and Meryl Streep, and Johnny Depp. Two who are NOT like that are Robin Williams and Jim Carrey.

I have to go now. I have this feeling that everyone is talkin' at me.

Well, if you want to drive that song out of your head, here's a tip. Think of that Lime Coke commercial with the appropos and ridiculously catchy (which means you either love it or hate it) 'Coconut' song by...you know who.

'Nilsson Schmilsson' stands as one of the greatest albums of all time. OK, maybe not 'greatest,' but at least great.
