Worst President Ever
Historians are always trying to figure out where various Presidents rank on the greatest-to-worst scale. The ones who usually come out near the bottom are:
- Pierce and Buchanan and Pierce, for refusing to acknowledge the coming Civil War, not listening to anyone but a small circle of yes-men, and pandering to reactionary supporters;
- Harding and Coolidge, for corruption and ignoring the people to funnel money to their corporate friends;
- Nixon, for his paranoia and attitude that the President was above thw law.
Guessed where I'm going with this? Bush brings all of these to the table. But don't take it from me; historian Eric Foner lays out the case in good detail.
