Google Maps to Add Sounds
Google Maps (possibly greatest invention of my lifetime) wants to add a feature that will allow you to play sounds while you're looking at maps. Not a bad idea.
But they'd better remember movie conventions, which means that every time you view London, you'll hear the first line of "Hail, Britannia". Every time you look at Paris, you'll hear a snippet of accordion music. And every time you look at Japan, they'll have to play a gong sounding.
Playing "Dueling Banjos" when you view Tennessee might have to wait for the second wave.

This kinda worries me: we know that Google makes their money from insipid advertising. Can't you see this becoming part of that? Sure, you get "Hail Britannia," and then a few good English rock songs, but then you get an advert from Lloyds. Or, that would be their intention, but because you are looking at The Strand, you get an advertisement from Johnson's Silver Scissors, which "can remove any annoying fiber or string!"

As long as they put the theme from 'Unsolved Mysteries' in the area of the Bermuda Triangle, I'd be happy.
