Not Thrilled With Danny Ainge Right Now

Here...

...and here.

Someday, I want to play high-stakes Monopoly with Ainge. "Danny, I know you have all three greens and are ready to start building houses on North Carolina, but I also know you've been coveting the purples. And I happen to have St. Charles, which can be yours for 2 railroads, a Get Out of Jail Free Card, and a written vow that I never have to pay rent on your greens."

Hey, at least he didn't trade Al Jefferson. If he had done so, I would have had to have hunted him down and killed him - slowly, langurously - and then put his head on a spike on Causeway Street as a warning to future Celtic management.

Yes - at least they didn['t trade Al Jefferson. That is the only good news. However ...

This Celtics’ move seems to me like a “treading water” move that doesn’t really improve the team. We heard all the claims about how deep a draft this was and how the Celtics would wind up with a good pick at # 5. This is a recording. We heard that when they wasted three picks for a few years ago on Joe Johnson (good pick but they traded him in mid-season), Kedrick Brown (an absolute waste), and Joseph Forte. All of whom played THE SAME blasted position! That’s the draft in which they could have had Tony Parker, for example, or Jamal Tinsley. Or saved the pick that they got from Denver and wasted on Kedrick Brown until the next year when they could have used it to draft Carmelo Anthony. Then there was the great pick of Marcus Banks who we were told was fast and would lead the resurgence to an up-tempo game. Yeah right. How long did he last? And then last year we had the pick that could have been Randy Foye or Brandon Roy but instead traded that pick – this is a recording – for Sebastian Telfair, who we were told could lead a resurgence in the up-tempo …

I have nothing against Ray Allen, but he is not the answer to improving the Celtics. We hear that his shooting ability – which I agree is very good – will take some of the pressure off of Paul Pierce. Well isn’t that what we heard about Wally Szczerbiak? Isn’t that what we heard before that about Ricky Davis?

Oh, but Ray Allen will bring veteran leadership. This is a recording too. Isn’t that what we heard about Gary Payton? And let’s not even talk about how much money was wasted on Brian Scalabrine.

Ray Allen will probably be gone in two years. Then what? Who will be the Ricky Davis-Wally Szczerbiak – Ray Allen addition that they try to sell us on then (let’s see, Allen Iverson will be two years older then, so he is a good candidate, or maybe Dell Curry will be contemplating a comeback)? At least we could have had Delonte West and a decent player (Noah? Green? Yi?) then if we hadn’t made this deal now.

I will remain a Celtics’ fan forever, but it shouldn’t have to be this difficult. It’s time for Danny to go. Let him go and not have a plan with some other team.

If you haven't written a post about how much you loved the Simpson's movie by Monday, I'll know that you have been abducted by aliens.
