Interesting review. I always liked this movie and now I wonder what I would think if I went back to watch it again, You raise some interesting questions.

Nice shout-out to Patrick Ewing, perhaps the sweatiest man in the history of professional sports in America, if not the planet. If he were a pitcher, what a great spitter he could have thrown without even trying.

Also nice reference to Colonel Nathan Jessup. Could he handle the truth about Chinatown any better than he did about Private Santiago?
