Those Were The Days
Google is celebrating its 10th anniversary by displaying a search engine from 2001, the earliest they have still on file. To give you an idea how long ago that was, the New York Yankees were still defending World Champions then.
Amazing what horrors the world hadn't heard of back in January 2001, and what came up on an Internet search instead:
September 11 Attacks
Paris Hilton
Enron Scandal
Dancing With the Stars
Sarah Palin
And what wonderful things had yet to come:
Obama 2008
2004 Red Sox World Championship DVD
Patriots 3 Time Superbowl Winners
Pierce Garnett Allen
Bostonist
LOLCat
And...sigh...doing a little searching, I found this quote on the first page of search results: "At some San Francisco gas stations, the price of premium gas is already more than $2 a gallon." 2001, folks.
(Thanks to sooz for sending me this.)

Some good stuff and some sad in the above list, but the one line that made me smile the most was "Pierce Garnett Allen".
